Somewhere between glitter & attitude, we make music for people who have never been particularly interested in fitting the mold.

We’re Tim & Julia, Hey Julis!, a queer-friendly alt-pop duo from Flensburg, Germany. Every song we make is entirely our own, shaped by a musical world where catchy pop melodies meet experimental curiosity, saxophone meets guitars, and Fender Rhodes, synths and layered vocals all find their place. Kate Bush comes up surprisingly often when people describe our music, which feels pretty fitting given our love of the unconventional.

To us, music is something deeply human. That’s why we don’t use generative AI to create our songs. We want you to hear us in them: our thoughts, our experiences and, most of all, our feelings!

On stage, that turns into a world of its own: whimsical, playful, cosplay-inspired and sometimes pretty loud. Since our first show in August 2021, we’ve played festivals, clubs and convention stages all over Germany. And yes, hearing our songs on Deutschlandfunk Nova and other radio stations is pretty exciting for us!

More than anything, we want to create spaces where people don’t feel like they have to make themselves smaller, more ordinary or more conventional than they really are. For us, that attitude doesn’t stop at our shows. Through artistic collaborations, charity shows and digital spaces, we work to create safer spaces and make more room for people who are often excluded or pushed to the margins.
